Typography on screen

Type on television should be anti-aliased. If not it will cause flickering because of the interlacing. Try to avoid fonts with thin horizontal lines. Do not use a font smaller than18pt. Try to use fonts with a large x-height as this will help to keep the words readable when smaller than 28pt. Don’t use finely stiffed fonts as the serifs will break down on screen. Be careful when using red type as it has a tendency to bleed. Be wary of very chunky fonts at small sizes as they can fill in a little.

All television show logos seem to use very bold fonts so that the worlds stand out from a further distance than in print.
