Everyday we are confronted by persuasion. Due to the usefulness of influence and persuasion techniques have been studied for centuries. the ultimate goal of persuasion is to convince the target audience to adopt the new information as a part of their core belief system.
1. Create a need
– This involves creating a need. This appeals to a persons fundamental needs for shelter, love, self esteem and self actualisation.
2. Appeal to social needs
– Another persuasive method appeals to the need to be popular and to be similar to others. They are encouraged to purchase items so that they are the same as everyone else.
3. Use loaded words and images
– Advertisers are aware of the power of positive words and phrases such as “New and Improved” or “All Natural”.
